Our Mission

To serve and strengthen the communities of our members through the healing power of art, kindness, and creativity.

Our Goals

Support our Neighbors

The most vulnerable members of our communities hold a special place in the heart of the Collective and its members. We aim to support those in need however we can, whether through funding, resources, supplies or a simple free artwork to bring a smile to their faces.

Support our Artists

Art and activism have been intertwined throughout history and we believe that in supporting our artistic community that we create a more compassionate, joyful and productive society.

Our Programs

Free Print Program

Our “Free Print Program” is an opportunity for artists to get free exposure for their work; it's not a scam, we promise! We cover the cost of getting prints made, which we label by-hand with all artists' contact information, and give away for free across the world! We do this to offer support & promotion and spread good vibes to all through the power of art. We have nearly 70 members in our collective, but our numbers grow each month! We are based in Rochester, NY, but any artist from around the world can submit their work for us to consider!

We distribute our free prints at pop-up events and local businesses in Rochester, NY and Detroit, Michigan, but we have big plans to expand to many more cities in 2022. In Rochester, you can find us at: Aaron’s Alley, Rank’d Airbrushing, Red Fern, Statement Boutique, and Gallery Salon!

Art Supply First-Aid Kits

We also distribute “Art Supply First-Aid Kits” across Rochester and beyond. We collect donations of art supplies, package them up with love, and give them away for free to students in the city, local non-profits, and anyone that could use some art therapy!

Causes We Support

Food Equity

We believe that food is an essential resource that allows our community to thrive and one of the most important facets of a health community is working through mutual aid to distribute food equitably. When people are starving, they can’t create so we aim to feed the community — through the power of art and creativity.

Homelessness

Helping those who have lost their homes has always been a cause that the Collective has been passionate about supporting. Whether through redirecting funds to those in need or providing much-needed supplies and resources, homelessness is an issue that we cannot afford to ignore.

Visual Arts

We hope to one day be able to financially support our members so that they can pursue their art to the fullest extent possible. Many of our artists create in their spare time while working full-time jobs. The ultimate goal of the collective is to allow our members to become full-time creators.

“Art is like alchemy. It has the power to transform, strengthen, empower and encourage. It’s a powerful force capable of igniting change in our world.”

— Gabrielle Peck, founder of Free Art Collective
